Memoir Monday: Concerts

Photobucket

So to understand more about me you must know that I love going to concerts.  No, not Skynyrd style concerts.  The ones where people scream at you and whatnot.  That's not the only type of concert i go to, but certainly the majority I go to are like that.  Yeah I know what you're thinking; "this guys an emo."  No I am most certainly not.  I like girls only, and I'm scared of razors. Also, I love my life.  It's awesome.

Anyway, I really like concerts.

I remember this one in particular in Tulsa.  Some of my favorite bands were playing (ADTR), and a lot of my friends were there.

Some of my friends had formed a "circle pit" and were doing what some might call hardcore dancing.  I.E. windmill, picking up change, punching midgets, and all that jazz.

I decided I wanted to join in the mayhem so I started my way over to where my friends were.  Out of nowhere this very short, but very muscular, dude came out of nowhere, and was demolishing anyone that got in his way.  He was strutting around and taunting everyone like he owned the place.  He wanted a challenger.

When I got to the edge of the circle I looked at my friend Jon and said, "who does this guy think he is?"

Next thing I know he's running full speed at us.  We hit him.  He stumbled and fell over.

HE IS PISSED NOW!!!

I guess he thought that it was my friend Bill that hit him.  So he starts to charge Bill.  Too bad he didn't know Bill had started at the linebacker position for my high school football team.  My friend Bill shoved him straight to the ground, and immediately after sensing his masculinity had come into question he started talking "smack" and got in my friends face.

Some of his buddies tried to step in too.  Well since Bill is my friend I felt the need to step in myself.  So I elbowed the guy next to me, and got in the dudes face.  After that about ten of our other friends stepped in.  Which I was very thankful for.  Because you see......I'm what my friend Travis likes to call a "flat belly."

Once the dude with short man syndrome saw he was outnumbered, he left.

I thought I was going to get stabbed.  Thank goodness I didn't.  Cause that would hurt, and blood makes me queasy.

Fighting To Understand

The more and more I learn...
The more and more I'm confused...
And...
The more and more I long for innocence and simplicity.

Who do you listen to these days anyway?
Everyone has their own agenda it seems...
Who's right and who's wrong?

One thing I do know is that there is one authority I can trust.
I guess I better rely on it for all the answers to the tough questions.

So here's to sorting through all the garbage...
And to finding those little nuggets of truth that keep fueling me on.
